I started reading everything that I could find on beekeeping and I was amazed when I found out how important bees are to our environment, beekeeping can be hard and really complicated at times, but also amazing and rewarding.

Farming has always being a part of my life. As a child, I remember helping my uncle at his farm. I never lost my love of country living with respect to nature. It constitutes hard work but the end results is what counts always. My fruit trees, fresh green garden and grape vines and the new addition to the farm of my honey bees, still brings me joy and continuation of enthusiasm for being part of what God gives us daily in life.

At Melissa Apiary in Walton, NY we are able to bring you raw fresh, natural and varied honey!

The cut comb honey products we sell are 100 percent all natural raw honey and wax. Comb honey (in season) shipped to you is the exact product that our bees produce. Our bees are not treated with antibiotics, Melissa Golden Honey is produced by our bees, who forage several miles on Walton area of Catskill Mountains to collect pollen and nectar and we are sure that the plants and flowers that we grow are not sprayed with pesticides, herbicides, etc. and that our grounds are free of persistent and harmful chemicals used by many for landscaping. We encourage our neighbors to do the same. Buy our and domestic varieties of honey products, beekeepers tools and accessories with confidence and hope you enjoy them.

There are a lot of good reasons to have a few hives of honey bees around. For fresh garden and fruit trees, honey bees provide the necessary pollination so there’s something to harvest at the end of the season. The natural products of the bee hive are, raw honey, pollen or propolis if they appeal to you, then a few hives are certainly useful. Indeed, honey bees provide all of these services to their keepers. Source from Beginning Thoughts on Keeping Bees

Liquid Gold: 7 Health Benefits Of Honey That Could Heal Your Whole Body

Honey contains a treasure chest of hidden nutritional and medicinal value for centuries. The sweet golden liquid from the beehive is a popular kitchen staple loaded with antibacterial and antifungal properties that has been used since the early days of Egyptian tombs.

Honey’s scientific super powers contribute to its vastly touted health benefits for the whole body. The healthy natural sweetener offers many nutritional benefits depending on its variety. Raw honey is the unpasteurized version of commonly used honey and only differs in its filtration, which helps extend its shelf life. A tablespoon of raw honey contains 64 calories, is fat-free, cholesterol-free, and sodium-free, says the National Honey Board. Its composition is roughly 80 percent carbohydrates, 18 percent water, and two percent vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.
